this is a place dedicated to musings about the work of God in fulfilling the prayer that things may be 'on earth as in heaven'. it is about 'mission' as part of God's mission to bring this about. it is about how that is coming to birth in a post Christendom world and how faith is expresssed and lived out in this new world and it's many cultures.

Da Vinci Code
Well for more 'serious' engagement do get my new Grove Book on this (you know you want to ;o) http://www.grovebooks.co.uk/cart.php?target=product&product_id=17096&category_id=265 this BTW is not about arguing the facts but IMHO the more important issue of understanding why this book has been so successful and the issues behind the facts that matter much more, oh it's also about responding to the book without looking like Dan Brown must be right that the church is doing a cover up...Something others are spectacularly failing to do ...Roll up the Roman Catholic Church single handedly doubling film attendance and belief in Brown's thesis by trying to forbid people from seeing it...Ably assisted by a clutch of conservative evangelicals and biblical scholars. But far more fun than my book is this wonderful post by the awesome betty bowers http://www.bettybowers.com/davinci.html the bus theory is clearly right (see may 1st)

Ooh, a book! Sounds like a better approach to the issue :-)
pax et bonum
You've got to love Betty haven't you?
Your book- very helpful... Betty totally irreplacable!
Steve, thank you for your blog and your perspective on this hot popular culture topic. I recently posted on my blog on this topic in ways that appear to mirror your new book. In my view we miss the boat when we protest Da Vinci Code or Potter, or whatever the pop culture icon that pushes the church's buttons. We are missing opportunities to address the underlying issues, engage as a church in critical self-reflection, and missionally engage our culture.

thought your questions in the book were great -- and we are using many of them at our cafe church.
i think you missed a key one; did the church invent Jesus as son of God.
what do you think?
